What campus security sees when you send an SOS

The information that reaches the responder who opens your alert.

Updated 13 October 2026

When you send an alert, a responder at your institution gets a pop-up with:

  • Who you are: your name, matric number, phone number, department and level.
  • Where you are: your live location on a map, your location trail, and the distance to the nearest police, ambulance, fire and hospital services.
  • Medical details you added: blood type, conditions and allergies. These are shown only if you filled them in.
  • Your emergency contacts, so they can reach someone if they cannot reach you.
  • The alert type (SOS or silent alarm), the time, and its status.

They can then acknowledge the alert, call you or your contacts, head to your location, and resolve it with a written report once you are safe.

What they do not see

  • Your password, payment details, or messages.
  • Where you have been before or after the alert.
  • Anything about your Walk with me sessions, unless you send an SOS from one.
